It’s almost time to unpack your winter clothes now the days are getting shorter and the weather is turning colder. Keep reading to discover how you can refresh your winter wardrobe, making them look great for longer with Ace.
Listen up mamas. Here’s the deal.
I’m the sort of person who normally uses supermarket brand, non-bio, washing gel for our laundry.
It’s a cheap and fairly effective way of getting through the mounds and mounds of washing that appears like magic in the basket every week.
GinGin is a real pain in the bum for wearing something for an hour and then getting changed. Her dirty clothes stay on her bedroom floor. And the only-worn-for-an-hour clothes go straight into the wash basket.
Jon has his own floordrobe that he’ll relocate to the laundry basket last thing on a Sunday night. *GROAN* I’m sure he’s not the only one, am I right ladies?
And Roo, well, at just two years’ old she can still get away with smearing beans all down her front, up her sleeves and even sometimes in her socks. However, she does like the challenge of throwing her dirty clothes into her own little laundry basket.
She’s got a pretty good aim too!
I’m no Hincher. Not really. I don’t like mess. But I don’t much enjoy cleaning either. Yep that’s the kind of tortured world I live in: #firstworldproblems and all that.
I’d probably like doing the laundry more if songbirds and forest creatures assembled around me whilst I sang my way through the chores, which is what was promised to me by all the fairytales I read and Disney films I watched as a little girl.
Talk about being majorly mis-sold what being an adult would be like!
So, no. I don’t like doing the laundry. I hate sorting clothes into wash loads. And I never iron anything. Ever.
(Other mums have told me that this will change when GinGin is in senior school and has to wear a proper shirt for her school uniform. Hmmm – sounds like a challenge to me!)
So Why Am I Telling You About Ace For Colours?
Given that I’ve just told you all about how much I hate doing the laundry, you’re probably wondering why I’m blogging about a wash powder.
I’d be questioning that too if I were in your shoes.
If you’ve read the GinGin & Roo blog before, then you’ll know I only put our name to brands or products I truly believe in. And we’re always on the lookout for eco-responsible companies.
So, when I was asked if I’d like to take up the #AceWinterRefresh Challenge, I thought it would be worth giving it a go.
Not only would refreshing our winter clothes go some way to avoid the fast-fashion-fever of a new season. But Ace for Colours Powder comes in a fully recyclable Tetra pak.
They’ve even done away with the plastic scoop. Hurrah for Ace!
In your face single-use plastic!
What Is the #AceWinterRefresh Challenge?
You may have seen this hashtag flying round your fave social media platforms. But what is it?
Quite simply, the #AceWinterRefresh Challenge is Ace’s challenge to us to refresh our winter clothes from last year (or longer ago). To cut back on constantly buying new clothes and to reinvigorate what we already have.
Ace for Colours Powder gently removes stains whilst at the same time keeps colours bright and fresh.
It’s safe to use on whites too.
And, because it keeps our clothes clean and looking vibrant, the outfits we love to wear last longer.
We can use Ace for Colours Powder in every wash cycle, harnessing the power of oxygen to gently remove tough stains and odours.
That’s a win, win, win, win!
Why Do I Need It?
Have you ever stored your clothes away in those vacuum-pack storage bag things?
I bet you washed the clothes before you sealed them in, yes?
And I bet they still needed a wash when you unpacked them, right?
Our’s do. Every time.
So when we pull the winter clothes out again they always need a quick pick-me-up-wash before they’re worn. And we’re getting to that time of year again when we need a puffier coat or a fluffier jumper. The temperature dips even here in Cornwall.
But – because I’m a super-savvy shopper (which is code for I’m pretty tight when it comes to spending money) – we don’t just store away winter clothes.
I’m gonna let you into one of my all-time favourite mummy-secrets.
If I have to buy new clothes for the girls, then I tend to wait for the end of season sale and buy next years’ sizes.
Shhhh! Don’t let everyone know. That’s our little secret, okay.
And, I think we’ve kept pretty much every item of clothing that GinGin has ever worn.
We’ve got so much of it stashed away I could open up my own child’s clothing store and still have enough left over to donate to several charity shops.
Poor old GinGin is usually dressed in clothes that are hanging off her, or threatening to cut off her circulation.
And Roo looks identical to GinGin, so I often mistake her for her big sister since she’s dressed the same too!
So we need Ace for Colours Powder to keep those bargains and stashed away clothes looking as new and fresh as possible for as long as we can.
