We’ve only gone and bloody won! Yep, you read that correctly, the GinGin & Roo blog won the BritMums Fresh Voice Brilliance in Blogging Awards 2019!
I still can’t actually believe it. Twenty-three hours after I found out I’ve won the BritMums award and I still can’t believe it!
If you read my last post, then you’ll know that I was completely unprepared for being named a finalist in the BritMums Brilliance in Blogging Awards. In fact I thought the email notification was spam LOL.
Thanks to all you lovely folk for nominating and voting for me – I won!
I knew I was up against some other really great bloggers in the Fresh Voice category, including Fledgling Flamingos, Gluing Cheese, Me, Them and the Others and Elena Lucie.
Even though I had absolutely no expectations of winning, I wanted to be present at the awards ceremony and support all the other finalists. So I logged on to Twitter a few minutes before the event kicked off at 1pm and started looking for brilliant GIFs. Because, you know, GIFs right 😀
I was sort of happy there wasn’t an actual awards ceremony because I hadn’t practiced my “gracious loser” face to hide the look of disappointment when I didn’t win. (Anyone remember that episode of Friends LOL)
Anyway, the result of the Fresh Voice category was up first. And nothing prepared me for seeing GinGin & Roo announced as the winner. I just couldn’t believe it! I very nearly spat a gob-full of tea over my Mac screen.
I was shaking. A lot.
And there was nobody at home to share my excitement.
I did a victory lap of the house in my slippers and then tried to compose myself and start replying to all the messages of congratulations.
One thing I hadn’t anticipated was just how quickly you need to type at an awards ceremony held over Twitter!
Sharing the Limelight
There were so many fabulous bloggers in each of the 14 different categories. The BritMums blogging awards have gifted me with lots of other talented bloggers and content creators to follow. I’m especially happy that Helen from Twins, Tantrums and Cold Coffee took the Readers’ Choice award. So very well deserved! And Julie from Picking Up Toys won the Best of Twitter award – go follower her on Twitter, you won’t be disappointed!
So there you have it! GinGin & Roo is an award-winning blog. I can now officially call myself an “award winning blogger.” Thank you to everyone who nominated and voted for me. And thanks to the fabulous ladies over at BritMums too.
I love to write. And I love to create new content. I desperately need to dedicate more time to both. I’m just super-happy that some other folk enjoy reading my posts, and make time in their busy lives to keep coming back to read more.
